If : If a child is having ear pain, it is very common that they develop an ear infection after having a cold. Tylenol (acetaminophen) and advil will usually help the discomfort, but ear infections can be quite painful. Some children will need an antibiotic prescription for an ear infection. There are also topical drops that can be helpful for the pain. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Seek an evaluation: The kid sounds like her cold has lead to fluid accumulation in her ear. Germs from the throat will sometimes enter through the Eustachian tube and cause a pus laden ear infection. If so it will likely get worse for a while & more painful.Ibuprofen and a heating pad over the painful ear can give temporary relief, but she should be seen.
