Yes: A 5 year old with repeated upper airway infections and a chronic cough could certainly be suffering from both allergies as well as cough varient asthma. Pneumonia in children is often a result of poorly controlled asthma, especially if it has happened more than once and if bronchitis is frequently diagnosed. It may be time for her to be seen by an allergist for further evaluation.

Unusual.: Although strokes in young children are unusual, they are not unheard of. Because they are so rare, your child should be evaluated by a pediatric neurologist. Lowered intrinsic immune function is not uncommon in young children, although there is a slight possibility that the two things (including stroke) are connected.
