No: During the procedure, old thick fluid is removed and the tube inserted, which acts as an open window in the drum, allowing air in and mucous to drain out. As the middle ear drys out, hearing improves and infection risk declines.Whatever is triggering the cough can aggravate the ear fluid problem, but fixing the ear issue doesn't effect the cough.
