Pregnancy : Pregnancy does not prevent infection by the hpv virus. Hpv is a virus leading to genital warts. Sexual intercourse is the source of exposure to the virus. Getting pregnant would not prevent the risk of exposure. Gardasil is a vaccine for both male sand females ages 9-26. It works if given before exposure to the hpv virus. It immunizes against 4 types of hpv virus which are responsible for about 75% of cervical cancer and 90% of genital warts. You should talk with your doctor to see if the Gardasil would be appropriate for you. The vaccine is certainly more effective and you do not have to raise a child unless you were going to have a family anyway. Most importantly, the vaccine, abstinence or condoms are the ways to reduce risk of infection. Best wishes.
