Lost a tooth now it hurts and is swelling, what should i do? i lost one of my perminant molars in the left side about a year ago. after it slowly chipped away. i fear there is still some tooth left in there and its giving me unbearable pain. its swelling

You : You need to see a dentist, get an examination and have a radiograph taken to see what the problem might be. You may very well have broken root tips that need to be removed to solve your problem. Taking antibiotics alone will not resolve this issue.

Bay : Bay minette, this sounds like you need some help, and quick. I would urge you to go today to a dentist. Infections are not only painful, they can lead to a body wide infection that in rare instances is life threatening. Get the rest of that tooth out! hope this is helpful, michael i. Yes : Yes the root tips must still be there. You are getting an infection and must see a dentist asap. Taking antibiotics would be a temporary solution because the source of infection is still there. I would go to the dentist and have it checked.
