If : If the pinched nerve is in your back i would recommend consultation with spine doctor or spine surgeon for further treatment. Many people benefit from physical therapy, steroid injections and surgery. Please see my health guide on lumbar disk herniations and sciatica. Good luck!

Talk to MD: If conservative therapies are not working you might want to see either a pain specialist or a spine surgeon.

Evaluation: If you havn't been evaluated for this problem i would see and orthopaedic surgeon. Physical therapy can help as well as oral steroids. Injections in the spine, called esi's or epidural corticosteroid injections can be helpful as well. If several months of conservative management does not work then sometimes surgical management is necessary to resolve the pain.
