Could be nerves : During any limb surgery, especially of this type, nerves can be damaged on the process. As those nerves regenerate, and heal they may induce fasciculations and spasms of the muscles around the surgical site. A visit to a neurologist may help elucidate the issues as they can actually test the nerves involved and give a more precise answer and prognosis.
