Most : Most oral surgeons do this type of surgery but depending on how experienced they are at actually doing them they may feel more comfortable referring you to someone who does them more often. If there is a residency oral surgery program they do them all the time and it will be done in a team dynamic theat will give you the best treatment. You may also find a hospital based oral surgery office that will be another option. I have been doing oral surgery for almost five years and since residency I have seen or done one case. I did about 10 as a resident but none since. If a patient came in with your exact diagnosis and depending on the size i might referr to one of the larger goups that have more experience. Talk to your oral surgeon and discuss his thoughts.

Ameloblastoma : Ameloblastoma is a benign growth that developes from the soft tissue that was involved with the formation of teeth. Though not malignant, it is an aggressive growth that causes bone destruction and deformity. The surgery can be complex and may require advanced reconstruction procedures. The removal of this lesion and ultimate reconstruction is best handled by a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Lesions of small size may be treated in an office setting and may require little or no reconstriction. More extensive lesions may require hospitalization and multiple surgeries. All oral and maxillofacial surgeons who have graduated from ada accreditated training programs should have the knowledge and skills to treat this disease. Again i would select a borad certified surgeon who has experience with this condition.
