You : You may have gingivitis. I hope that you are brushing your teeth at least once a day at minimum and that you are flossing between teeth and around gums at least daily. Because your gums are tender, recommend that you use a soft tooth brush and don't brush too vigorously. The tooth brush should be replaced every three months or sooner if it is worn down or the bristles are sharp. The problem is that it becomes a vicious cycle. You stop brushing because your gums are sensitive but then there is more inflammation so your teeth and gums become more unhealthy. Recommend that you get a cleaning done by a dental hygenist and that you see your dentist very soon.

Time to call: A dentist. If your gums hurt so much that you can't brush them, it could be severe gingivitis or the start of periodontitis. Can't treat these problems at home without professional help. Call today and feel better soon..
