195lbs : 195lbs is heavy for a female of any age and i'm glad that you are interested in addressing the problem. Diet pills often do not work, nor are they safe - especially for a child. If she is having difficulty with her weight, you should schedule an appointment with her doctor to discuss. A healthy diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and skim milk along with daily exercise is the best way for anyone to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Eliminating fast food, soda, juice, fried foods and sweets is important, too. Studies show that children are most successful with weight loss when the whole family participates in following a healthy lifestyle together.

12 year old: Strongly recommend that this be addressed with the girl's pediatrician. Diet pills are not really designed for children.

A : A 12 year old should not be taking any diet pills as they could cause many adverse effects, the most worrisome being heart issues. A proper diet and exercise are proven safe and effective. She needs to visit a nutritionist for a specific diet plan. She should start exercising or join an organized sports team. Also her doctor or even the school nurse may have information on programs for kids that need to lose weight. Please encourage her!

Not good idea: Why cant a 12 year old learn to make good choices such as eating healthy, with filling foods high in nutrients such as fruits and vegetables, instead of a diet pill. A diet pill doesnt teach anyone anything about good choices and healthy eating. There are side effects as well to these medicines such as raising your blood pressure. Its not recommended
