It : It will be another 2 year until you can fully benefit from the law with the creation of the exchanges. You are the perfect example as to why this law was created. The insurance industry rakes in 700 billion dollars per year in profits and operational expenses while 49, 000 americans die every year. If you consider that we spend some 750 billion dollars per year importing 70% of our oil to move our economy it will be evident to you that this is the biggest rip off in the history of the world. The insurance industry will have their profits capped between 15-20% of premiums which is very generous as compared to the total raping of the us economy they have today. Did you know they can legally collude, that is having monopolies? They are exempt from antitrust laws! political donations do go long ways for these fellows!

Obamacare will end the practice of insurance companies being able to pick and choose who they will ensure and who they will not based on how healthy you are. This, along with help to buy insurance if you can't afford it, will all start in 2014.

Marketplace/Exchange: The state or federal websites where people can go to buy health insurance are called health insurance marketplaces, or exchanges. California's marketplace is called covered california, and is where people can go to compare and select health insurance plans offered by private companies, and to find out if they are eligible for financial aid to help afford the insurance. Marketplace opens oct. 2013.

What are coverage rules for dependents under the new health care reform law?

Older age of coverag: The new law, termed the accountable health care act (called by its opponents obamacare) allows dependents currently receiving coverage to be on their parents policies until age 26 . Prior to this many ended at 18 if they were out of the house and others at age 21 no matter what. This is in jeopardy if the supreme court rules against it. This will be a major issue in the 2012 campaign.

Obamacare allowed my kids to remain on my health insurance policy after graduating from college and until finding a job that included benefits. In the past, as soon as your child was no longer a full time student, they had no options. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of this and it is now the law.

Family physicians: Family physicians in my opinion are the cornerstone to you health. In the healthcare reform they will have a greater role. However, keep in mind there will definitely be a shortage of doctors.

The shortage of doctors will be taken care of by increasing the number of doctors being trained and by increasing the number of PA's and NP's that work with your doctor in providing care.

I am worried about the health care reform law and how it will affect us?

Healthcare reform: Quite right -you should be worried. In my opinion it will be a rationing of health care resources with ultimately a reduction in hospitals and doctors as the government controls and dictates how and who gets what.

Which presidents tried to implement a health care reform in the United States?

Several: Truman tried but was overwhelmed with other issues. Johnson put together the Medicare legislation, This was modified buy several subsequent presidents. Clinton tried in his first term but the measure never got out of the White House. Bush added a prescription drug benefit. Obama got through the Accountable Care Act. Trump would like to eliminate that.
