Need a check-up: A man in their 50s should receive a full medical check-up including blood pressure, height and weight, cardiovascular assessment including cholesterol and diabetes tests, a prostate exam and P.S.A. test, as well as a head-to-toe check of the skin for abnormal skin lesions. If there is a history of abuse and the patient is uncomfortable with male doctors, they should seek out a trusted female doc.

See doctor: You are within your rights to request a female doctor for a checkup if feel safer and if the clinic can provide this they will likely do so - some won't have the staffing to do this. Certainly wise to have cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure checks plus address any specific concerns. Suggest discuss prostate testing with your doctor - some countries screen, some countries don't - controversial

Physical exam: You can see a female doc if you like. Just mention what you said in your question to the staff when calling for an appointment so she will understand and be ready. Peace and good health.
