Can you suddenly develop loud snoring later in life?

Yes: Gradual onset later in life is more typical. Sudden snoring later in life may indicate a mass or tumor in the nasal/sinus cavity causing obstruction. New onset snoring should be checked asap.

Yes: As you get older, there are two things that contribute to increase in snoring. 1. Increase in weight which will cause an increasing in snoring. 2. Decrease in muscle tone, which will do the same. These occur gradually, however if there is a sudden increase in snoring without the above, i would recommend having an ENT do a thorough evaluation of the airway, as other worrisome findings come to mind.
