Simple things first: You can sleep on your side, avoid alcohol, and start a weight loss regimen if needed. But loud snoring can be a sign of serious sleep apnea. The best advice I have for you is be seen by an ENT that can evaluate your airway screen you for obstructive sleep apnea. There are a number of surgical and non surgical treatments that i as an ENT can offer to most of my patients.

Get a DIAGNOSIS: Talk to your physician about a sleep study to rule out the more insidious and dangerous obstructive sleep apnea. If you are found to suffer primary snoring only, a sleep dentist can evaluate your airway and make a dental appliance as an easy and effective therapy. There are several surgeries that can help: uppp, pillar procedure. But few are successful in the treatment of apnea--get a sleep study.
