Sleep Study by MD: The sound we call snoring occurs due to air passing through a narrowing of the airway, causing the tissue to "flutter" and make noise. Narrowing can occur as a result of several things....Large tonsils, excess neck fat, loss of muscle tone, and most commonly, a tongue that falls back blocking the airway during deep sleep. People who snore loudly may also have sleep apnea. Have your md check this.

Many oti: Snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea. May want to have a sleep study performed. Your family md can order a sleep study and one can be performed at a sleep center. Consult and ENT and an oral surgeon afterwards for surgical options, CPAP and an oral appliance.
