Dental appliance: Therapy or minor surgical procedure can be done to stiffen the soft palate or reduce the airflow turbulence that causes the noise during snoring. Most important condition to rule out though is to make sure that snoring is not a symptom of an underlying sleep apnea.

Sleep study first: Snoring, the noise that emanates from the soft tissues of the oropharyngeal walls during inspiration, can become a component of sleep apnea. This usually does not occur until the age of 35 to 40 and may be connected with weight gain. Get the sleep study first to cure the cause and not a symptom.
