Chicken & egg: It is unlikely that reflux causes apnea... In a newborn it may by causing airway swelling from the irritation. It is more likely that apnea causes reflux - there is a strong relationship between apnea and reflux..

Yes: By causing inflammation of the throat reflux can lead to swelling and narrowing of the airway thereby leading to obstruction and apnea.

Not likely.: Not likely. However, the opposite is a real possibility. The negative pressures present when one is struggling to take a breath can lead to bringing up acid from the stomach.
