You : You should have pap smear and pelvic exam starting at age 21. Figure out which gynecologists are covered by your insurance company and ask other women you know for a referral.

It's time: First pap should happen when you're 21. You still need a yearly visit, and possibly an exam, but not always a pap at every visit. Don't be scared of the exam. A good dr will explain it all before it happens. Ask a nurse to recommend a good doctor.
