If : If water goes through the tube into the middle ear space, it can cause pain. If you see any ear drainage, see your ent.

Pain normal but...: If the pain is going on for more than 24 hrs especially, if there is drainage, then antibiotic ear drops. No peroxide or alcohol or else severe pain. Contact ENT who put them in if it continues.
