It might need help: It sounds like what you are describing is (medial band) plantar fasciitis. Stretching, ice, rest, over-the-counter arch supports and medicines like advil/motrin/aleve are good starting points. If it is not being helped, see a podiatrist. Prescribed medications, injections, custom foot orthoses and/or physical therapy are sometimes necessary.

See Podiatrist: For evaluation, diagnosis and proper treatment. May be the result of inadequate foot support. Can try inserts and new running shoes in mean time. If there is swelling, get medical attention before doing anything else to rule out more severe injury to bone or soft tissue.
