Tendons do this: Tendon strains can do this. When you get up after rest they stretch. You may have some pain going on somewhere else that is causing you use these tendons. If it hurts while you run than it will definitely need to rest. Otherwise passive stretching exercises may help loosen things up. If it continues you may need to see a specialist for this.

Stop Running: With any strain or injury, it's very important to rest the affected foot/ankle. There may be a tendon or ligament injury and with further running it could worsen. Have a specialist examine it if you have no improvement!
