Still a good idea: Fibromyalgia is made much worse with sleep cycle disturbances so it is a good idea to have the sleep study even you don't end up with a diagnosis of sleep apnea. Disordered sleep causes fatigue, increased pain, memory problems, a "foggy" feeling, etc. You may have two problems: falling asleep and a disordered sleep cycle. Doing the study is a good idea.

Sleep Study: I think this is a common misconception that many patients have regarding sleep studies. Yes, they are often ordered to rule out a breathing-related sleep disorder, but the test also assesses for other conditions affecting ones sleep. Polysomnography records your brain waves, the oxygen level in your blood, heart rate and breathing, as well as eye and leg movements during the study.

Central Apnea: You don't have to snore to have sleep apnea-you could have central sleep apnea which involves the brain where you stop breathing.
