Return to dentist: Does it feel like you touch first on the tooth with the temporary "cap'? It is very possible that the temporary is "high" and it needs to be adjusted. Some individuals done not notice their bite is off when they are numb. Other individuals are anxious to get out of the dental chair and say the bite feels ok when it isn't.

Root canals : When a root canal is performed many times the tooth is reduced in order to alleviate any possible trauma caused by the bite. Bring up your concerns with your dentist the next time you have an appointment. Hope this helps, .

Protection: If the bite was changed so that you do not hit it, then that was to protect the weakened tooth from breaking. It will likely be rebuilt with a post/core foundation and a crown. If the bite is in the way from the temporary, then you need to get it adjusted asap, or you might break the remaining tooth.

Too high: You usually can not tell that the bite has changed unless the temporary is too high. If it is you need to get it adjusted as soon as you can. If you don't, you will most likely end up with a toothache even though you have had a root canal.

Bite: you should be able to perceive a change in bite, unless there was too much temporary material used, or there is still infection present causing the tooth to extrude
