A member asked:

I'm looking to become a new patient for a dentist in my area as i might need a root canal or had an abscess that temporarily went away, is it okay to wait a week until they can see me?

An abscess doesn't go away if an infection is present. Call doctor for an antibiotic prescription and you could place hot compresses over area. A week is no problem if on medication.

Possibly, but why play Russian Roulette? Abscess has not gone away. it is still spreading bacteria through out your body via your circulatory system. What went away was pain sensation, not infection. An Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist) can probably see you within 48 hours, aaand then your General Dentist can restore the tooth. Or you can hope that abscess pain does not flare up.
