Difficult to say: Unfortunately, "glittery areas" is too vague to provide a definitive answer. It could refer to an epiretinal membrane of the central retina or to a peripheral retinal degeneration. If you received this term from your eye doctor, certainly call her/him and ask her/him to clarify her/his finding.
