A member asked:

Do i have to see breast surgeon before getting biopsy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends.: Depends on local custom and how the physician practices are set up. In many areas you can have certain types of biopsies by the radiologists or primary doctors without seeing a breast surgeon. For example, gyns here can do fine needle aspirations, and radiologists can do stereotactic or ultrasound guided biopsies with an order from the gyn. Excisional biopsy is usually done in our area by surgeon.
