Possibly: It depends - did you already review the biopsy result with the doc that did it? What was the result? If it was benign you may be referred simply because of it's size or location. Definitely follow up with the doc that did or ordered the biopsy to find out more details. Good luck!

Not necessarily: Some clinics routinely refer patients to see breast surgery after any breast biopsy so that they can discuss the results of the biopsy and any clinical concerns. I'm sorry this question was not answered better for you at the time of your biopsy or when the referral was made. As physicians we sometimes don't convey important information like this as well as we should.

Breast Surgeon: Not necessarily. Some physicians don't have a great deal of experience managing breast diseases or workups. Breast surgeons may provide a useful relationship to follow up with when any breast - related problems arise.
