More serious: The ligaments on the inside of the ankle are much stronger than those on the outside. It would be prudent to have an X-ray to make sure there was no bony damage. In the meantime, rest, ice, compression, and elevation are standard treatments. You may need to wear a boot or a brace depending on severity.
