A member asked:

How long is hiv rapid test antibody window period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2-6 wks-months.: Most people show antibody readings at about 2-6 weeks after HIV infection, however antibodies may not become detectable until after several months of infection. This does not mean that a person is not infected with HIV if no antibodies are detected so they need to be interpreted in accordance with history, risk factors, and state of health of the patient. False positives occur so confirm w/wblot.
