Fibroids: Fibroids cause the muscle in the uterus to grow abnormally and to grow more blood vessels. This changes the blood flow and contraction pattern of the uterus causing heavy bleeding and pain in many people. There are also other causes for cramping such as adenomyosis, endometriosis, and sometimes it is unexplained. Most normal cramping is mediated by prostaglandins and nsaids like Ibuprofen can help.
