Suicidal: By all means see a doctor asap. There is excellent treatment for depression and this can save your life and halt the depression. Call now.

Get help: I'm sorry you're going through this. National suicide prevention hotline 1-800-273-talk. Definitely do tell your dr -- to figure out what's happening with you and get help. If thoughts of suicide become overwhelming, please dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room -- they will do psych eval at the er. Suicide is a very permanent solution and will affect not only you, but people who are close.

YES: I'm sorry about your condition. Let your pcp know and ask for a referral for a mental health provider. Your doctor doesn't know what you're going through, unless you tell him.
