Will smoking make multiple sclerosis worse?

Yes: Cadmium lowers 25-oh vit d which makes ms worse. It worsens auto-immune disorders. Tobacco smoke is a delivery system for cadmium. Even after smoke cessation an ex-smoker has an added exposure to cadmium for years. Monitor and correct low levels of vit d3, eat a healthy anti-inflammatory diet, take vit k2 up to 1, 000 mcg a day, lower your stress level and move through the day.

Yes, it may.: Smoking has been associated with 1.5 times the risk of developing ms (association does not equal causation, but it is a risk factor). Studies dating back to 1960s have linked smoking with ms progression. Patients with a clinically isolated syndrome my convert to ms faster if they smoke, and smokers with established ms may convert to secondary progressive ms faster.
