How does cranial sacral therapy help with tmd/atypical facial pain?

Does not help: Your question is confused and does not make sense to me. Cranial therapy for TMJ involves alleged manipulation of the skull plates and that is impossible and is quackery. Sacral means pertaining to the sacrum which is the lower back and has nothing to do with tmj. Tmj pain is most often from c2/3 of the cervical vertibrae and you can test if turning your neck causes pain.Do not accept quackery.

Not sure: There are more conventional treatments that have scientific research to support them that i would try 1st. The key is to find someone that can diagnose the problem and not just try different treatments hoping something will help.

Depends: Cranial sacral therapy is a viable alternative in certain cases of tmd. I often get referrals from chiropractors who say the adjustments that they perform on the patient does not hold. The bite (occusion) may be incorrect or out of alignment, causing the adjustments to fail. I would consult a TMJ specialist in conjunction with cranial sacral therapy.
