Need more research: I am not sure of such a therapy, but i know it is done, especially overseas, with knee and other joints. I would want to have a load of research on the technique and side effects before considering. I would contact an oral surgeon.

PRP: The injection of plasma rich protien into joints is experiemental at this stage. Very little has been done in the tmj. One must always keep in mind that the structures in the TMJ are quite different than all other joints so therapies that work in those joints may have little or even detrimental effects on the tmjs.

Don't know: I have not heard of that procedure. Tmj disorder is not a diagnosis and therefore I have no idea of what the problem is. I do know that injecting blood into the TMJ can increase the risk of TMJ degeneration. There may be other treatment options that are less invasive and have science behind them. I might suggest asking for other treatment options or getting a 2ond opinion.

Not usually: Uncommon form of treatment. Depends on what else has been tried first.
