Hard to prevent: Bruxism often occurs when someone is asleep. Stress often plays a major role as a factor. Being stressed, we often don't sleep as soundly as we could, and that is translated into grinding one's teeth as stress relief. In many situations, a night guard is indicated to protect the teeth. Consider having that fabricated first to prevent damage, and then work on minimizing the stress.
