Yes: The anesthetic is local and should have little effect on your heart. Infrequently, the Epinephrine (adrenaline) added to some local anesthetics can enter the bloodstream in high enough concentrations to cause mild increases in heart rate or blood pressure -- this is generally avoided with proper technique.

Maybe: No matter what the cause of your atrial fibrillation, medical clearance ahead of time is necessary. You may be taking oral anticoagulation or aspirin-related rx which lengthen bleeding times and pose unique risks. If af is related to organic heart disease or CAD you may be at increased risk for the transient rapid heart rate that can come from epinephrine. Please see your internist.

Yes and No: The anesthetic itself is safe, but if you are taking an agent like Plavix or Coumadin (warfarin) for your a-fib there could be increased bleeding both with the injection and surgery. Please discuss this with your dentist before the operation.
