What constitutes wisdom teeth coming in "late"?

4 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

What is "late": Wisdom teeth can erupt as early as 13 or 14 years of age or as late as one's early 20's. Sometimes the wisdom teeth dont erupt at all and remain impacted. Proper diagnosis with pertinent radiographs will determine the status.

As an adult: Usually they start coming in around age 18. An xray will show if it is going to be coming soon or not.
