A member asked:

Does a chronic lack of sleep (always staying up too late and getting up too early) plus stress have any effect on the menstrual cycle?

Stress has effects: You don't specify how little sleep you are getting, and what sources of stress you have (work? kids? relationship?). Adults generally need 7-8 hrs sleep per night to function effectively. Stress affects the endocrine system (hormones) and can trigger menstrual irregularities. Consider getting help to change this pattern. Make appt with psychologist using CBT therapy to help you manage stress.
