Orajel, ice or ??: If wisdom teeth are coming in and causing pain you can suck on some ice, drink some bourbon or apply an anesthetic gel. Mind you, these are all only temporary. The best thing to do is see the dentist and see if there is enough room for your teeth to come in. In the meantime....Avoid course foods like carrots, chips or anything that will irritate the gums where the teeth are coming in.

Pain Meds: Pain medication, either over the counter tylenol (acetaminophen), advil or Motrin (ibuprofen) or alleve (naproxen) or prescription medications. After 12 hours, gentle saline rinses and avoid alcohol-containing mouthwashes or toothpaste whose flavoring is too strong.

Your dentist: Your dentist is the answer. Until you can see your dentist, OTC meds would be recommended. If your wisdom teeth are partially exposed and the pain is due to the tissues overlying the teeth, salt water rinses or ice and/or brushing over the affected areas may provide some temporary relief. If the pain is due to decay, an immediate visit with your dentist would be recommended.

A few things: OTC pain meds, soft diet. See dentist, may be infected and need antibiotics. Best solution is to see the wisdom tooth expert - oral surgeon for exam and recommendations.
