Other Meds: Another medication is Indocin (indomethacin) which is a powerful anti inflammatory. Your doctor can also give a cortisone injection to help. Ask hour doctor if he recommends taking a maintenance medicine to prevent future attacks.

Gout : There is no longer a generic Colcrys (colchicine). This is one of several treatments for an acute flair-up of gout. You can discuss cheaper options with your doctor including indomethacin, other anti inflammatory medications, steroids. You should also talk to your doctor about long term treatment to prevent flairs and joint damage. This is normally started after the acute flair resolves.
