May be viral: If there is a single sore and you have no other symptoms (no headache, no stomach ache, no fever), the sore throat may well be a virus. Treatment for that is supportive. If you develop any of the above symptoms in addition, however, and do not have symptoms such as stuffy nose or cough, see your doctor to make sure you do not have strep.

Yes worry: Visit a physician for a proper diagnosis. Strep throat could potentially progress to more complications if it goes untreated.
