A member asked:

I have upper palate ulcers and a ulcers on my gums no sore throat or any infection no flu symptoms no white thrush in mouth just painful and red?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: Cold sores are on or near the lips. They are caused by recurrences of herpes virus, which lives in the nerves after an initial infection, and then travel down the nerves to cause the cold sores at the skin surface from time to time. Sores on the inside of the mouth can be canker sores, due to the immune system reacting to something on the inside of the mouth; or can be viral ulcers, etc...
