Bag it: You can place your foot in a bag and wrap it with duct tape to keep the water out if you are taking a shower. In addition prior to placing your foot in the bag you could wrap your foot with a towel in case water gets inside the bag. Alternatively you could go to a medical supply store and purchase a shower cover for the foot.

Ask your podiatrist.: Ask the doctor that did the procedure if you're allowed to get it wet--after 24 hours you might be able to shower normally and get the toe wet. If the procedure was more specialized or was done in an operating room, get a plastic bag with no holes, and tape it directly to your leg with your foot in it. Bottom line: ask your doctor how you need to look after this.

Toenail aftercare: That depends on what type of surgery you had for the ingrown toe nail. Most of the time, that type of surgery requires some soaking of the toe following surgery. In some cases however, there are sutures in place and the toe needs to be kept dry. With any surgical procedure you should have received written instructions on your aftercare. You need to contact your provider for clarification.
