Removal is a surgery: The removal of an ingrown toenail is a surgical procedure. Depending on the doctor and where he has equipment set up, the surgical removal of a toenail can be done in a doctor's properly equipped office, in an emergency room, in a day surgery center, in a hospital, etc...

Ingrown Nail: Nails should be cut straight across and allowed to grow past the cuticle a couple millimeters. If the ingrown nail is red, swollen,  tender or has any drainage, you must be seen by a Podiatrist to have it resected appropriately.
