Not too much: Premedication guidines have changed from year to year. Be sure you are following current recommendations by discussing this with your md and dentist. It is unlikely that one failed premed event will lead to a secondary infection. Premedication decreases the of contracting a secondary infection even though its pretty low. Be aware of any developing symptoms and alert your doctor of changes.

No: The protocols for premedication for preventing subacute bacterial endocarditis have changes. Most patients who took medication for this in the past no longer have to take it anymore. There are only a few conditions which require premedication before a dental cleaning. Check with you physician to see if you fall into any of these categories. I don't think you should be worried.
