Dentist: A dentist can evaluate your bite and make a night guard for your teeth.

TMJ specialist: I recommend searching for a specialist in TMJ problems. This dentist will assess you jaw joints and their range of motions. He/she may also test the muscles of your face to see if there is any hyperactivity. Also, your teeth will be assessed to see if your clenching is causing premature wear of your teeth. There are several treatments for such problems, such as a bite splint, massage, soft diet.

TMJ expert: You can see your DDS. Better see a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
