A few days but....: Don't 'pop' the floss between your teeth and hitting the gums. Gently see-saw the floss between your teeth slowly. Once you get between the teeth gently go under the gumline to remove any plaque. I like to floss after brushing before rinsing to help push the toothpaste chemicals between the teeth. You can also rinse with warm salt water to help sore gums and keep current with your dental exams.

Keep flossing: Unless you are actually cutting your gums from flossing improperly, gum tissue should not bleed from flossing. Any sign of bleeding while flossing is a sign that there are plaque bacteria still on your teeth causing inflammation and therefore bleeding. With consistant and effective flossing, you will see that bleeding stop. Have your dentist or hygienist review proper flossing technique.
