Flossing pockets: If you have active periodontal disease, with pockets more than 4 mm, you need to have them treated. In that case, brushing and flossing will help, but will not eliminate the infection. Thorough and correct brushing and flossing will maintain a healthy mouth but will not eliminate an active infection.

Flossing: While flossing or using WaterPik daily is essential for optimum dental health, if you have active periodontal disease with pockets greater than 3mm brushing + flossing will not cure your disease. Professional intervention is required. Healing is a process, and it will take time. Start your healing process with an appointment for a professional cleaning.
