A member asked:

What dose of vitamin d supplements should you take if your levels are low?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Up to 50000 U/wk: The dose of vitamin d depends on how low the level. A mild decrease could be treated with 2-3000 units daily. A severe decrease may require 50000 units once or twic a week for several months. A blood test will be needed to determine if the deficiency has been corrected. Then a daily dose of 1-2000 units may be adequate to keep a normal level.
