Yes but taper: The Depakene (valproic acid) doesn't come in 200mg dose- perhaps 250mg......It does take time to work so be patient....Give it time (up to 3-4 weeks) as part of pain management...Unless side effects are intolerable..Please talk to your prescriber. There are other "nerve blocking" agents that can be a part of pain management. If you tapered up, please taper down. But after one week- ok to stop.
